Have you heard of aphantasia? It wouldn’t be surprising if you haven’t since the name was only coined in 2015. Aphantasia is the inability to create mental images in your mind. The concept has been known since 1880, but we’ve known very little about it until recently.
I don't have many words lately. I’m often verbose, sometimes annoyingly so, but this no words thing happens now and again. It’s my mindbody processing. Sometimes I need more time in silence than other times. This is one of those times.
I am currently reading a book called, “Create Dangerously: The Immigrant Artist at Work” by Haitian-born writer Edwidge Danticat and I am loving it. In addition to the story-telling, Danticat speaks about the importance of breaking silences, self doubt, and writing through fear.
